Project preview · LEITA

LEITA is an independent music discovery platform built around a simple idea: start with artists you already love, then follow the connections to music you have not heard yet. Its Sound Map centers the experience, with current music charts and discovery pages offering other ways to explore.

Product experience

  • Sound Map: Begin with up to three artists and explore related artists. Maps can be shared with a public link or saved as an image.
  • Discovery: Browse current Apple Music charts, community chart feeds when configured, and upcoming releases.
  • Catalog details: Apple Music integrations can provide artwork, links, and song previews where available.
  • Accessible entry: Visitors can explore the public discovery experience without creating an account or connecting a streaming service.

Engineering

LEITA is a full-stack Python and Flask application with a responsive interface, server-rendered pages, and a SQLite-backed data layer. External catalog and discovery services are optional integrations, allowing the site to start and serve its core experience without requiring music-service credentials.

The product also includes optional account features, public share links, and scheduled cleanup for expired anonymous maps. Public maps are link-accessible and anonymous maps expire after 90 days.
